What is Boudoir Photography?

Boudoir means “bedroom” in French. Boudoir portraits are intimate, flirty, sensual and romantic.  We love to  take pictures of women that make them feel sexy, that make them feel beautiful and confident.

I really want to do this but I’m shy/not photogenic/not skinny/nervous…

Regardless of how you feel when you walk in – we promise you will feel 100% sexy when you walk out.  And when you see your photos you will be on top of the world!  We will guide you to get the most flattering angles and take care of all the small details.  You will look amazing when we are finished with you!

What outfits should I bring?

Anything can be sexy!  We suggest bringing a corset or favorite piece of lingerie, a matching bra/panty set, and something of his (shirt, tie, hat, jersey, etc.).  Other suggestions: hats, brightly colored bra’s and panties, long necklaces, a leather jacket, garters.  Themed outfits are great, too, like a french maid or a school girl.  And, of course, lots and lots of high heels and boots in different colors and styles (this is where it helps to do a boudoir party, you can share with your friends!)  Bring more than you think you’ll need!  And bring a robe to wear between your photo sets if you’d like.

Do I need to bring accessories?
Yes, accessories are always great for boudoir. Bring hats, shoes, your man’s tie, a scarf, jewelry, stockings or whatever your heart desires.  If they match some of your outfits, even better!  Fake lashes are a huge plus, too.

Do you provide props and outfits for the shoot?

We do have a  selection of items that you are welcome to use!  We have lingerie, nighties, heels, candles and other fun props!

Do you retouch the photos?

Yes, we do beauty retouching to all of your final images.  Our beauty airbrushing includes skin (wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite) and body contouring.  We do as little or as much retouching as you like but try not to overly retouch the images… we want you to still look like you.

I have girlfriends who want to do this, too, do you offer boudoir parties?

Yes, we do!  In fact, we have found that boudoir sessions are so much more fun when there are at least 2-3 girls participating.  We do offer specials for these parties, too, please contact us for more information.

Do I have to get naked?

No, not at all.  We typically do strategically covered topless shots and implied nudity.  Leaving a little to the imagination drives most men wild!

What do I do to prepare?

Once you have booked your shoot we recommend getting hair touch-ups, waxing and mani/pedi’s done to help you get ready.  Please stay away from self tanners, you don’t want to be orange!  Also, spend some time in front of the mirror practicing your “looks.”  It’s helpful to know how you look when trying to communicate a certain emotion in an image.  A little practice goes a long way!  The day of your shoot make sure you drink plenty of water, moisturize your entire body and have/bring a light snack.  If you are getting your hair and make-up done please come with a clean face and non-styled hair.  Also, please wear loose-fitting clothes to your shoot to avoid lines on your skin.

Will you use my images on the Internet?

Definitely NOT! We will never post anything on our site or use it for promotional purposes without written approval on the specific images we would like to use.  We have many different options on our contract to make sure you are protected.  The images you will see in your online gallery will be password protected and will only be viewed by those you choose to share it with.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a deposit of half the sitting fee when you book your session.  Deposits are non-refundable and the remaining amount is due the day of the shoot.

How can I pay?

We accept cash and PayPal.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, we have professionally designed gift certificates.

How long before I will see my proofs?

Your gallery will be ready for viewing and ordering within 2 weeks of your session unless previously discussed.  Orders can be rushed for a $50 fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

48 hours notice is required in order to use your initial deposit towards a re-scheduled session.  Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable.

My lovely assistant brought my Point and Shoot camera to our shoot on Saturday so she could get some fun shots to share.  She also took a few videos.  I hope they show how laid back and fun our shoots are.

Boudoir Pre-Session Tips and Information

-          Age verification: Please bring a valid photo ID.  Taking revealing pictures of underage women can lead to problems for the photographer, so we take no chances here.

-          Beauty Makeovers: Getting nails, hair and makeup done are a great idea.  But trying a new facial peel or hair removal technique just before your session is not advisable.  Also, trying to get that “tan” just a few days before your session can cause problems, not to mention tan lines.  Stay away from anything that might adversely affect the look of your skin.

-          Get rest, drink water: Everyone looks better after getting the proper rest the night before.  Water helps add life to your complexion.

-          Don’t wear tight or binding clothing before your session: These can leave marks and lines on your skin that take time to fade away.

-          Give yourself plenty of time to get there: When you don’t feel rushed, you don’t feel stressed.  So, have everything ready to go well in advance and you’ll have the luxury of taking your time with no worries.

-          Makeup: bring a pair of false eyelashes and your makeup kit and hair products if our stylist will be assisting you.

Other tips:

-          Wear clear deodorant.  Light or no perfume.  Also, stubble can really ruin a “smooth” look, so prepare accordingly.

-          Look over some pictures that appeal to you (online, magazines, etc) and practice a few poses and facial expressions that you might want to try.

The more prepared you are for your session the more fun you’ll have and the more pleased you’ll be with your images.

1.  You’re fat

Fat is relative.  You can find just as much beauty in a size 4 as you can in an 18.  You need to know you are beautiful no matter what your flaws – because with those flaws come assets.  Thats why we are here.  Taking photos.  Celebrating your beauty.  Please take 78 seconds out of your day to watch THIS VIDEO.

2.  It’s Too Expensive

How do women celebrate themselves?  I don’t know very many who do.  We buy clothes to compete with everyone elses’ look.  We eat carbs.  We buy gym memberships to try and get skinnier.  Never ONCE do we think about splurging on something for the purpose of showing the world how amazing we are Right Now.   Lets face it, we don’t really feel all that fabulous right now.  We are always looking to “tomorrow” to feel great about ourselves – but with a glamour photo shoot (boudoir OR clothed) you will feel it TODAY.  And according to my clients, for at least a week or two afterwards!

3.  You are Shy

I can understand this.  I am more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it.  But if you ask the ladies who have had shoots with us they will tell you that it’s impossible not to have a good time.  We are FUN and laid-back.  The actual shoot is less like a shoot and more like a sleepover with friends. We work hard to make you comfortable and we provide wine, which always helps.  No one has ever walked away saying they were uncomfortable during a shoot!

4. You Don’t Want These Photos “out there” on the internet.

Why do you think my portfolio is so slim?  I do not slap my clients naked butts on my website unless they let me.  And most don’t.  I only edit in the evening when everyone is in bed – NO ONE sees these pictures but me and my assistant.  Even the editing of these photos is a top secret mission.  Once you order I burn a disc, put it away in a sealed envelope and delete the images from my computer.  Seriously – your privacy is my number 2 concern – after making you look smoking hot.  Privacy.

5.  You don’t know what to wear

And that is why we provide a selection of clothing and props.  AND we have a great stylist who will help you choose which items to wear for each pose.  You can wear as much or as little as you wish, but working with a stylist is something that will help you achieve the look and feel you want.  And you thought stylists were only for Hollywood Starlets… we want you to feel like a star.

6.  It’s Trashy

This is one that is hard for me to answer because I am a big fan of art, and “trashy” isn’t even in my vocabulary, but I will attempt to address this concern…First of all – this shoot is for YOU and YOUR MATE and I guarantee that he/she will not think ill of you!   Second, the female form has been captured in art since the beginning of time – would you call the renaissance nudes trashy?  Probably not, but they did at the time.  Now look at them up in conservative galleries being celebrated by the sophisticated elite.  This is another place where having a personal stylist also really helps, because she knows the line between art and trash and she can walk that tightrope with you to help you figure out your style!

7.  Why the hell would you do that?!?!

Because you will finally know how hot you are.  Because you want a unique, amazing gift for your partner.  Because you deserve it.  Because a gym membership and new clothes can’t give you the gift that these photos will give you right now.

8.  You are Embarrassed.

Don’t be.  Please.  This is our job.   Wardrobe malfunctions happen – everyone has cellulite – and – you DO have a best side (and we know which one it is).  We have seen it all.  We will do our best to help you feel comfortable through the shoot.  We promise.  We are funny.  Really.  Well, actually, Tara is the funny one.  LOL.
